About Us
The Education Students’ Association (ESA) is the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) student local for the University of Calgary. We are the representative body for the over 1200 undergraduate students enrolled in the Werklund School of Education as well as the local membership of ATA Student Local No. 2. Through our student executive council, the ESA endeavours to assist our members in becoming active participants of the ATA, all the while advancing the interests of every Werklund undergraduate student.

UCalgary's ESA hosts several social and wellness events over the academic year. From Mindfulness Sessions to Graduation Celebrations, we offer events year-round that offer impactful social and personal benefits!
In the spirit of reconciliation, reciprocity, honour, and respect, We humbly acknowledge that the place in which we work and learn is on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. The University of Calgary is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River; the traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Moh’kins’tsis”, which we now call the City of Calgary. On this land, we are all treaty people.
