The first annual Pre-Service Teachers’ Convention took place on January 24th, 2026! Modelled after the Calgary Teachers’ Convention, this full-day event was packed with essential information and practical tips for those entering their Field experiences and teaching careers in the Winter. Attendees learned about hiring from some of the major school boards in the area, gained insight on the experiences of real first-year teachers, and so much more!

Students from representatives of the biggest school divisions in and around the Calgary area: Calgary Catholic School Division, Foothills School Division, Calgary Board of Education, and Rocky View Schools.

Hosted by the Early Childhood Education Council (ECEC), students had the opportunity to hear from 4 Werklund graduates about their first year of teaching! As they discuss their experiences, attendees asked questions about the interview process, teacher certification, and classroom realities.
